"Destemmed berries and 48 hours' cold soak, basket pressed and matured in French oak (30% new). Raspberry coulis, blackberries and pomegranate molasses. Baked red clay, dried tea leaves, tonka bean and carob. The fruit weight is explosive upfront then melts away into savoury dried herbs and cooking spices. Cardamon, clove and coffee pod. The aqueous way it flows across the palate is a highlight. A wine that demonstrates the strength of shiraz: at elevations of 880m, in the right vintage and in capable hands, this is what can be achieved. Under $50 no less. Superb." - Shanteh Wale
